
The Massachusetts Democratic Primary - 5th February witnessed a clear victory of Sen. Hillary Clinton. She emerged as the winner of the Democratic Primary in the state of Massachusetts by defeating her close contender, Barack Obama by a considerable margin of 15%.
The results of the Democratic Primary at Massachusetts conducted on 5th February prove the popularity of Sen. Hillary Clinton as a potential presidential candidate for the US elections of 2008. Total registered voters in the Democratic primary in Massachusetts were 3,990,499. Out of the total votes cast in Massachusetts, Clinton bagged 663,540 votes which amount to 56% of the total votes. Obama finished second by securing 482,367 votes (41% of total votes). John Edwards came third by 2% votes (18,634 votes). Massachusetts Democratic Primary recorded 95% Precinct participation. The estimated Delegates participation was 93. Total delegates for Democratic Presidential in Massachusetts is 121 out of which 28 are superdelegates.
Gender played a big role in determining Hillary's winning feat in Massachusetts. A whopping 58% of the total voters were females and rest 42% were males. If the trend of voters is analyzed on the basis of age composition then it becomes clear that Sen. Clinton was the favorite candidate for voters in the age group of 45 to 59 years. 33% of voters belonged to this age group. 30% of voters are above 60 years of age.
