Democratic Primary at Montana - June 3

June 4, 2008: Illinois Senator Barack Obama has won the Democratic Primary at Montana – June 3. Sen. Obama has secured 57% of the popular votes and the support of 8 delegates, out of the 16 tied for the June 3 Primary according to the latest reports. Sen. Clinton has won 40% of the popular votes and the support of 4 delegates as of now. 3% of the total electoral strength showed no preference.

Montana, along with South Dakota, was one of the last two states to hold the Democratic Primaries. There was high attendance from the participating precincts. 55% of the total electorates were women, and about 35% belonged to the age group between 45 and 59. There was a large share of senior voters as well, with 32% of the total voters being 60 and above.

This win at the Montana Democratic Primary is significant for Obama. Although he was well ahead of Sen. Clinton in terms of delegate counts even before the start of this Primary, yet the win here has almost secured his nomination. This win will help him to further his cause towards ensuring the Democratic nomination for the US Presidential elections.
