
Hillary Clinton took a sweeping victory in the Arkansas Democratic Primary - February 5, winning 70% votes in the state. She defeated her rival, Barrack Obama who could secure only 27% votes in the Super Tuesday Democratic Primary at Arkansas.
Hillary Clinton notched the victory by a great margin in Arkansas where she served as first lady when her husband Bill Clinton was the Governor. Of the 94% precinct votes reported, Hillary won 202,010 votes, leaving Obama behind by huge periphery. Sen. John Edwards secured the third position with only 2% of the cast votes.
Exit poll reports attribute Clinton's comprehensive victory to the support of the large number of female voters in Arkansas, February 5. 60% of the total voters were females while only 40% of the turn out were males. The Democratic voters were divided in into the following age groups:
18 -29 years - 9%
30 - 44 years - 24%
45- 59 years - 31%
60+ years - 36%
Along with the other victories, Arkansas was an important democratic notch by Clinton on Super Tuesday. Hillary claimed 23 delegate votes as compared to the 6 by Obama.
