
The Georgia Democratic Presidential Primary - February 5 received 99% of the precincts reporting for the polls. Barack Obama won the election of Super Tuesday in Georgia with 67% of the popular votes, defeating his nearest rival Sen. Hillary Clinton with a margin of over 35%.
Out of the total 5,142,745 voters, Obama received the votes of 696, 622 registered voters, which amounted to 67% of the popular votes. Clinton came second with 31% votes, whereas John Edwards finished a distant third with 2% of the popular votes. Democratic Presidential Primary Georgia has a total of 103 delegates, including 87 delegates who tied for Super Tuesday. As of now, Obama has secured 27 delegates, whereas Sen. Clinton has secured the support of 18 pledged delegates for the National Convention. Being a southern state, Georgia has a great number of African American voters. The Exit Poll reports indicated that 86% of the African-American voters favored Obama in the Georgia Primary elections.
The Democratic Exit Poll reports reveal that 37% of the total voters were males in Georgia while 63% were females. Going by the age group, Georgia State has 19% of its Democratic voters above the 60 plus category and 29% of the voters are under the age group of 30 to 44 years.
