
After a keenly fought contest, Barrack Obama, Senator of Illinois, became the Projected Winner at the
Connecticut Democratic Presidential Primary - February 5. He defeated his nearest rival New York Senator Hillary Clinton by around 14,000 votes. BY winning from this state, Obama gained the support of 25 delegates compared to Clinton's tally of 22.
After 99% reporting from the precincts, Obama had bagged 178,574 votes, which accounts for 51% of the votes cast. Clinton, on the other hand, received 47% of the votes, amounting to 164,334 ballots. John Edwards, the third candidate at the Democratic Primary Connecticut-February 5, received 3384 votes while 2,996 voters remained uncommitted.
Fifty-nine per cent of the registered Democratic voters are female compared to 41% males. Among them voters, 10% fall in the 18-29 age group, 23% in the 33-44 age group, 37% in the 45-59 age group while the rest 30% fall in the 60+ age group.
