
Feb 9, 2008: The State of Washington went to polls on 9th February, 2008 for nominating Democratic Presidential candidates for 2008 US Presidential Election. The results of the Washington Democratic Presidential Caucuses declared Barack Obama as the Projected Winner from the state. Obama had won by a margin of 37% of popular votes, in contrast to his closest political rival Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama secured 21,629 popular votes while Hillary Clinton got 9,992 popular votes. Washington state has 97 Democratic delegates. Obama has won 35 delegates, while Clinton has gained the support of 15 delegates.
The Democratic Party in the state of Washington experienced a participation of 96% precincts. A total of 31,985 number of registered voters participated in the Democratic Presidential Caucuses Washington- February 9 election.
The state of Washington will witness another contest shortly. The Democratic Primary is scheduled to be held on 19th February, 2008.
