
March 9, 2008: Barack Obama recorded a convincing win in the
Democratic Presidential Caucus Wyoming - March 8. Barack Obama defeated his rival candidate Hillary Clinton by 23% popular votes. 12 delegates were tied for the March 8 Democratic Presidential Caucus Wyoming election. 11 of them had turned up for the March 8 election. 7 delegates had cast their valuable votes in favor of Obama whereas 4 delegates voted for Hillary Clinton. Obama won by popular votes as well. Obama won 5,378 popular votes in comparison to the 3,312 popular votes of Hillary Clinton.
100% of precincts had reported for the Wyoming Democratic Caucuses on March 8. In 2 counties of Wyoming namely Crook and Niobrara, it was a tied result for both candidates. In Crook both the candidates had won 31 popular votes, whereas, in Niobrara both of them had secured 10 popular votes. Clinton had managed a win in only 6 Wyoming counties namely Weston, Converse, Goshen, Platte, Carbon and Sweetwater. Barack Obama recorded victories in rest of the counties of Wyoming namely Park, Teton, Lincoln, Winta, Sublette, Fremont, Hot Springs, Big Horn, Washakie, Natrona, Campbell, Johnson, Sheridan, Albany and Laramie.
The March 8 win came as a big relief to Barack Obama after his defeat to Hillary Clinton in the Ohio and Texas Democratic Primaries on March 4. After the March 8 election, the delegate count stands as the following:
Barack Obama: 1527
Hillary Clinton: 1428
