
The Idaho Democratic Caucuses - 5th February witnessed a spectacular victory for Sen. Barack Obama. He won a whooping 79% of the votes cast while his closest contender, Sen. Hillary Clinton was accorded merely 17% of the votes. Obama bagged 16, 880 votes this Super Tuesday 2008.
The Idaho Democratic Presidential Caucus is home to a total of 693, 965 registered voters and has a total of 23 delegates including 5 super delegates. Among the 18 delegates tied to the elections, Sen. Obama won 15 while Sen. Clinton won 3. John Edwards won about 1% of the votes cast and 3% remained uncommitted. The Democratic Caucuses Idaho saw 100% of the precincts reporting on 5th Feb 2008.
This resounding victory is especially significant because it helps douse Idaho's reputation of being a racist region. Obama's appeal over Idaho has been a spectacular sight and all 44 counties in the state hosted the Democrat meet for the first time since first presidential caucus in 1980.
