Senator Barack Obama won the Democratic Caucuses at Hawaii - Feb. 19, defeating Sentaor Hillary Clinton by an overwhelming margin of over 50% votes. Obama secured 76% of the total votes, whereas Clinton came a distant second with 24% votes. Obama won 14 out of the 20 pledged delegates from Hawaii for the National Convention, who tied for the Feb.19 caucuses. Clinton secured the support of the remaining six delegates.
The Hawaii Democratic Caucuses were heavily attended with all the precincts reporting for the polls. Obama's victory was expected, as he enjoys immense popularity at Hawaii. This win accompanied Obama's win at Wisconsin, the other state that held Democratic Primary on Feb. 19.
As a result of Obama's commendable showing in the last few Primaries, wins at the Ohio and Texas Primaries now become crucial for Sen. Clinton. Given the close competition between the two candidates, these two Primaries to be held on March 4 can be decisive in choosing the Democratic candidate for Presidency.
