Jim Gilmore

Jim Gilmore is an American Republican Politician. Jim Gilmore for senate was nominated for the Republican Presidential candidacy for the presidential election that has been scheduled to be held in the year 2008. Jim Gilmore announced his candidacy for the post on April 2007 and soon in July 2007 he decided to leave his candidacy for the post.

Jim Gilmore was born on 6th of October in the year 1949. Gilmore’s full name is James Stuart “Jim” Gilmore III.

Jim Gilmore’s political career graph shows that he succeeded George Allen as the 68th Governor of Virginia in the year 1998 and remained in the position till 2002. In the year 1993, Jim was also elected as the Attorney General.

While serving his term as the Governor of Virginia he worked towards the Virginia’s car tax campaign and also emphasized heavily on the issue of hiring 4000 teachers for the public schools in Virginia. Jim Gilmore put high efforts in maintaining a better educational system. It was during his rule as the Governor that a position for the Secretary of Technology was created. He along with Donald Upson established the technology commission. Jim Gilmore also had taken up the issue of abortion seriously.

A group, “Draft Gilmore for President” was formed in the year 2006. On the 9th January, Jim filed papers with the Federal election Commission and was one among the many who were competing for the conservative slot from the Republicans.

Jim Gilmore was considered eligible for the post of President because of the issues he has taken up in his career and has taken great efforts to maintain a better hold on issues like low taxes, national defense, considering the traditional values and border security along with putting equal emphasis on the development and innovation of technological ideas.
