Duncan Hunter is the Republican American politician who has been a member in the House of Representatives since 1981. He has been elected from the California’s 52nd congressional district. Duncan Hunter announced his candidacy for the US Presidential Election on the 25th of January in 2007. Hunter has also served in the House Armed Services Committee as the Chairman in the 109th Congress.
The basic issues that Hunter has taken up in his political career are that of Abortion, Immigration, Trade issue, Environmental issues.
Duncan Hunter has taken major steps in introducing The Right to Life Act, H.R. 552, in the year 2005 on 2nd February. His say on the Immigration and the border fence made a great impact on the political arena, where the 14 miles security fence on the International land border was constructed. This border also brought a reduction in the crime rate of the country. The border was constructed in the area separating Mexico, Tijuana and San Diego County. Duncan Hunter has voiced against some international trade agreements like the WTO, CAFTA and NAFTA.
Duncan Hunter for president is considered as an eligible contender because of the fact that he has shown great concern for some sensitive issues and has worked with great effort in eradicating the odds of the society and has constantly worked towards the betterment of the country at large.
Duncan Hunter has announced on March 20, 2007, that he chooses to retire from the US Congress by the end of the present session.
