Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover was born in West Branch, Iowa on 10th August, 1874 and was brought up in Oregon. Hoover's father was a blacksmith. He graduated in mining engineering from Stanford University in 1891. For about twenty years he continued with his service as a mining engineer. He also served as Secretary of Commerce. He married Lou Henry and went to China. In China, he worked as a chief engineer in a private company.

Later, Herbert Hoover became the 31st President of the United States of America. He served his nation from 1929 to 1933. As a President he initiated to modernize the economic condition of the country. In 1920s, Herbert Hoover also became the Secretary of Commerce of the United States under the Presidents, Calvin Coolidge and Warren Harding. Herbert Hoover became President defeating Democratic candidate Al Smith.

The full name of Herbert Hoover was Herbert Clark Hoover. Herbert Hoover won the Presidential election of 1928 as a Republican candidate. Hoover had deep faith in Efficiency Movement. Herbert Hoover had to face Great Depression as the Stock Market collapsed or crashed on 29th October 1929. This day is termed as Black Tuesday in the United States. As a result of this the nation had to face economic downfall. This Great Depression started in 1929, which was his first year as a President. He showed an energetic move to fight against the Great Depression.

Hoover, preceded President Calvin Coolidge as a President of United States of America. Later he was succeeded by Franklin D. Roosevelt.

In the history of American Congress, Hoover Herbert became 31st President heading the Republican Party from front.
