Gerald Rudolph Ford, Jr. or Gerald Ford born in July 14, 1913 was the 38th President of United States(1974–1977), and also the 40th Vice President (1973–1974) of the United States.
Under the terms of the 25th Amendment, Gerald Ford was the first person appointed to post of the vice president. Ford was the only person to hold that office without having been elected either President or Vice President but simply succeeded the throne. Before1973, he served for more than eight years as the Republican Minority Leader under the House of Representatives. In 1948 from Michigan's 5th congressional district Ford was first one to get elected to Congress.
Ford did not intervene, but did help extract friends of the U.S while foreign policies took strong steps in the Cold War, even when the former friend South Vietnam was invaded and conquered by North Vietnam. In USA the economy suffered from inflation and declination Ford was criticized intensely for granting a pardon to President Richard Nixon for his liability in the Watergate scandal. In 1976, Ford scarcely defeated Ronald Reagan for the Republican proposal, but finally lost the general election to Democrat Jimmy Carter.
He published several writings on Union Addresses. Ford's reached popularity for his integral thoughts and openness during his 25 years in Congress. During World War II he attained the rank of lieutenant commander in the Navy. Gerald Ford died on December 26, 2006.
