Elaine Brown was born on 2nd March, 1943 in a Pennsylvanian city Philadelphia. She grew up to be a prison activist, singer and a writer in the Afro-American community.
Born to a dress factory worker, Elaine Brown was the chairperson of the Black Panther Party. For the US 2008 presidential election Elaine Brown declared her nomination for candidacy for the Green Party.
Presently a resident of Atlanta she has founded the Mothers Advocating Juvenile Justice. She did her schoolings from Philadelphia High School for Girls and Thaddeus Stevens School of Practice. Career of Elaine Brown began at the Philadelphia Electric Company.
After moving to Los Angeles in California in 1965, Elaine Brown started working as a cocktail waitress. After meeting Jay Kennedy, who was an American Communist Party member, Elaine Brown for President became interested in radical politics and started working in Harambee, a radical newspaper.
With the initiative of Bobby Seale and Huey Newton in October 1966 the Black Panther Party was formed in Oakland. The party began working towards giving a better life to needy children by offering food to more than 10,000 children. After Elaine Brown joined the party she turned the party as one of the strongest supporters of women's rights. In 1974 she became the party chief.
She got involved into politics and carried on several revolutionary movements for the betterment of the society. She moved to France in 1990 and stayed there till 1996. In 2005, she was nominated as a Green Party candidate for Mayor of Brunswick, Georgia.
