James Joyce Pub Zurich is one of the unusual and inauthentic places to visit in the city. The tavern was established in the 1970s by a Swiss bank to entertain the clientèle of the business class.
The furnishings of the James Joyce Pub in Zurich were shipped from Dublin where it originally belonged to the venerable 18th century Jury's Hotel. The decision to demolish the hotel prompted the Union Bank of Switzerland, situated in the capital city of Ireland, to purchase the furnishings and paneling of the city alehouse. The trappings were reassembled and assorted into a bar near Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. It was named after the reputed Dubliner, James Joyce. The settings and decor of the bar features in his famed classic, Ulysses.
The newly established James Joyce Pub at Zurich was embellished with special comfortable banquettes. The interiors are well tiled and are paneled with dark wood. The pub serves a la carte dishes with the additional Irish stew served in the month of December. The bill of fare comprises of snacks like hamburgers, fish and chips and fried chicken leg.
