Zurich Attractions

Zurich attractions add to delight of traveling to this city. Zurich is a beautiful city located in the central part of Switzerland. It is the largest city of the country which houses many tourist attractions that attracts tourists from the different parts of Eurasia, as well as other continents. Some of the significant attractions at Zurich are:

  • Botanischer Garden - Botanischer Garden, one of the famous Zurich attractions, houses about 15,000 species of plants and trees. It contains as many as three million plants. The garden features many rare plant species from south western part of Africa, as well as from New Caledonia. The University of Zurich holds the ownership of the Botanischer Garden.

  • Landesmuseum - Landesmuseum remains open from Tuesday to Sunday between 1030 hours and 1700 hours. The museum displays many articles that reflect the socio-cultural background of Switzerland. It also contains many ancient artifacts, including stained glass, carved altarpieces, costumes, painted furniture and weapons.

  • Urania Observatory - Urania Observatory was constructed in 1907. The observatory has a gigantic telescope called Zeiss, which weighs about 20 tons. One can see the planets, galaxy and stars with the help of the telescope. Furthermore, the observatory is one of the popular spots for sightseeing in Zurich. It is known to provide a kaleidoscopic view of the entire city, as well as the Alps.

  • Foundation E.G. Buhrle Collection - Foundation E. G. Buhrle Collection features a large number of Impressionist works from France. The collection has the works of Van Gogh, Degas, Renoir, Manet, Gauguin and many others.

  • Zoologischer Garten - Zoologischer Garten holds about 260 species of animals. The zoo is known to house about 2200 animals. One can come across separate enclosures of snow leopards, India lions, clouded leopards, Amur leopards, otters and pandas in the zoo.

  • Fraumunster - Fraumunster is famous for its stained glass windows, which were designed in the late 1900s by Marc Chagali. The church is also known for its nave that is constructed in Gothic style.

  • Swiss Technorama - Swiss Technorama is a permanent exhibition, which houses the greatest collection of tin-plate trains in the world. Technorama houses a Youth Laboratory, which teaches nearly 100 different experiments on mathematics, biology and science.
Besides the aforesaid sites, Zurich also houses many other tourist attractions that attract travelers from far and wide. These are Zunfthaus Zur Meisen, Zürcher Spielzeugmuseum, Friedhof Fluntern, Grossmunster, Kunsthaus Zurich, Kunstmuseum, Thomas Mann Archives, Museum Oskar Reinhart am Stadtgarten, Schloss Kyburg, Museum Reitberg, Rapperswil, Chocolate Factory, Uetliberg and Opera House. These attractions in Zurich are located in the different parts of the city. Zurich is known for its excellent network of transportation. Therefore, traveling in Zurich is not all a problem. One can avail the different modes of local transportation in order to reach the tourist attractions of Zurich.
