Stade de Suisse Wankdorf is gearing up for another important international soccer event, Euro 2008. The old Stade de Suisse Wankdorf of Berne is today a wonderful modern stadium with facilities of top standards.
The earlier structure was demolished in 2001 to make way for the current stadium. Located at Wankdorf in the outskirts of Berne, the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf will host the Group C matches of Euro 2008.
Stade de Suisse Wankdorf boasts of an excellent infrastructure which includes offices, restaurants, residential complex, school and shopping plaza. The Stade de Suisse Wankdorf is the home-ground of BSC Young Boys — one of the oldest and prestigious clubs of the country.
Stade de Suisse Wankdorf has a fantastic business center that accommodates 1,500 people at a time. A place for holding various concerts, exhibitions, business meets and seminars, the center has a wonderful restaurant.
A special chair in the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf has been preserved in the honor of legendary goalkeeper Walter Eich. The stadium has a lovely illuminating system with floodlights attached to the roof. Stade de Suisse Wankdorf is the second largest football stadium in Switzerland at the moment.
