Euro 2008 will be held in some spectacular
Euro 2008 Venues in both the host countries – Switzerland and Austria. Although the celebrated tournament is being co-hosted by two different countries, the closeness of the euro cup 2008 venues and extremely well connected transportation system will help the participants and spectators.
Euro 2008 will be played in 8 different venues spread across the two countries. The
venues in Switzerland are:
Basel - St. Jakob Park
Berne – Stade de Suisse Wankdorf
Zurich – Letzigrund Stadion
Geneva – Stade de Geneve
Four cities of Austria - Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Innsbrick and the capital Vienna will host matches in Stadion Salzburg Wals – Siezenheim, Worthersee Stadium, Stadion Tivoli Neu and Ernst Happel Stadion respectively.
The St. Jakob Park in Basel accommodates 33,000 spectators at a time. Inaugurated in 1954, the stadium has been modified and modernized for the upcoming gala event. One of the semifinals will be played in this stadium. The final and few other matches will be played in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadion – one of the best stadiums in Europe. Rest of the venues will host group stage matches. All the stadiums are extremely well equipped and meet the standard Fifa and UEFA requirements.
