The earliest structure of Salzburger Dom was constructed in 767 A.D by Bishop Virgil. Much later during the 12th century, the church came under attack led by Frederik Barbarossa. It was destroyed to a large extent. Archbishop Konrad III rebuilt the cathedral a decade later.
Salzburger Dom in Salzburg has faced several acts of destruction but time and again it was renovated and reconstructed. The last major damage was done in 1944, when the church was hit by a bomb. It was rebuilt and consecrated in the year 1959.
