Gstttengasse is a narrow alley in Vienna. This narrow back street begins from Anton-Neuman-Platz and extends till the town gate known as Klausentor, through Monchsberg. The town gate does not exist at present. This part of Vienna reminds one of the past since the buildings standing on Gstttengasse of Vienna date back to 16th and 17th century. This alley runs through the old town of Vienna.
However, Gstttengasse in Vienna witnessed a catastrophic rock falling incident in 1669 which left more than 200 people dead and many buildings destroyed. Since then the government has taken special care to take up certain safety measures for the people residing there. Climbers are appointed during the spring time to remove hanging rock chunks to keep them from falling so that no more lives are lost and no more houses are destroyed.
Vienna's Gstttengasse is one of the most ancient places of Vienna where visitors could witness the remains of the past.
