Vienna June 26- Goals from Xavi Hernández, Daniel Güiza and David Silva in the second half takes Spain to the Euro 2008 Final. Russia had seemed powerful enough to make it to the final knockout round. But, they were themselves knocked out as Luis Aragonés's men took control in the second half. Spain will meet Germany in the final on Sunday after their 3-0 win against Russia.
After 24 years, Spain rose to prominence as they defeated the confident Russian team to secure their place in final match of Euro Cup 2008 championship. The achievement of Luis Aragones means the end of game for Guus Hiddink, the man who woke up Russia after their 4-1 defeat by Spain in the group stage. Russia showed spectacular performance throughout the tournament. However, Spain seemed too strong for them in there struggle to reach the final match.
The first half led to a deadlock and Russia was depending on Andrei Arshavin to lead them ahead. Instead, it was Roman Pavlyuchenko who gave Spain a warning with a powerful free-kick only to be stopped by Iker Casillas. To Russia's advantage, Spain hero David Villa left the ground and soon after, Pavlyuchenko was on the verge of scoring. Spain hit back five minutes after half time.
In the 50th minute, Spain midfielder Argus Marcos Senna made a neat pass to Xavi who steered the ball past Igor Akinfeev, giving Spain the lead. The very first goal from La Furia Roja took away Russia's confidence. With 17 minutes left for the second Euro 2008 semi-final match to end, Spain sealed its victory as Güiza doubled their advantage. The finishing touch came from Silva who added to the score as Fabregas ran down and passed the ball over to him.
Spain is to play Germany in the tournament final while, Hiddink's men bid adieu to their dreams of winning the Euro 2008 championship title.
