Geneva, June 11- The Portugal-Czech Republic match on June 11th was an action packed event that gave Portugal an easy victory and left Czech Republic with three points. One goal from Christiano Ronaldo, one from Deco and the third from Ricardo Quaresma has put Portugal on top of Group A with 6 points. Portugal's 3-0 victory over Czech Republic has cleared the path for Luis Felipe Scholari's team for the quarter finals.
It was a good beginning for the Czechs but the opening score of the match was made by Deco in the seventh minute. Ronaldo played a key role in Portugal's first goal as he exchanged passes with Nuno Gomes. Petr Cech interrupted and passed over the ball to Deco who made a close range shot giving Portugal its first goal in the second Group A Euro Cup 2008 game. The Czechs equalized the score as Libor Sionko headed the ball into the net in the 17th minute. Portugal dominated the field during most of the first half, the ball possession being 64 to 36 % in their favor.
The second half of the game was all action. After 62 minutes of a fast paced game, it was the 23 year old Christiano Ronaldo who scored. Portugal started leading by one goal. Ronaldo's 63rd minute goal gave Portugal boost towards victory. Czech Republic almost got its second score as Plasil headed a corner back across goal but there wasn't anyone to take over. Portugal's scoreboard was complete when Ricardo Quaresma scored in injury time.
The Czechs had played well but Portugal outplayed them quit easily. If Portugal keeps up its performance, the championship title won't be very far away. As for Czech republic, they have to improve to stay firm in the Euro 2008 tournament.
