Patrick Kluivert of Netherlands and Savo Milosevic of Yugoslavia scored five goals each to become the
Euro Cup 2000 Top Scorers. They were followed closely by Nuno Gomes of Portugal, who finished the tournament with four goals to his name. The tournament, Euro 2000, ended as a high scoring one, with an average of 2.74 goals every match.
The five goals that Patrick Kluivert scored for his country came in five matches, compared to four matches played by Savo Milosevic. Kluivert’s first goal came against Denmark, Netherlands’ second match in the tournament. He again scored in the last match of the group league against France and followed it up with a brilliant performance against Yugoslavia in the quarter finals, where he scored a hattrick.
Savo Milosevic scored two goals in Euro 2000 in the match against Slovenia, which came to be a draw match of 3-3. He also scored the winning goal against Norway. This talented Yugoslavian player again found the net in the next match against Spain. Milosevic scored against Netherlands in the quarter finals. However, this injury time goal was not enough to save Yugoslavia as they were bowed out of the tournament with a 1-6 defeat.
