Euro Cup 2000 Schedule

With 16 teams participating, the Euro Cup 2000 Schedule was planned according to the 1996 tournament. The total number of teams was divided into 4 groups.

Group A consisted of defending champion Germany, England, Romania and Portugal. The Group B had Sweden, Belgium, Turkey and Italy. Slovenia, Norway, Yugoslavia and Spain comprised Group C while Denmark, Czech Republic, France and Netherlands were in Group D.

The tournament kicked off on 10th June, 2000. The inaugural match was between Belgium and Sweden. All the group matches ended by 21st of June and thereafter the quarter-final stage started. The first quarterfinal match was played in Amsterdam on the 24th of June between Portugal and Turkey. On the same day Italy met Romania in Brussels. The other two quarterfinals were held on the following day with Spain playing France in Brugge and Yugloslavia meeting The Netherlands in Rotterdam.

The two semi-finals of Euro 2000 were staged on 28th and 29th June respectively. France defeated Portugal in the first one while The Netherlands was beaten by Italy in the second semi-final.

The final was played on the 2nd of July at Feijenoord Stadium of Rotterdam. Reigning world champions France defeated Italy to clinch the title.
