Euro Cup 1988

The final phase of Euro Cup 1988 was hosted by West Germany. This was the eighth edition of the tournament, which happens every 4 years. The tournament is supported by UEFA. The knock out stages of the tournament was from June 10 to June 25. The final was held on June 25th in Olympiastadion, Munich. The Euro Cup 1988 winner was Netherlands. Netherlands defeated USSR to lift the trophy.

The two other semi finalists were West Germany and Italy. With 5 goals, the Euro Cup 1988 topmost Scorer was Marco Van Basten. Marco Van Basten, with his prolific goal scoring ability was easily the best player of the tournament. The semi final match between West Germany and Netherlands was played in Volksparkstadion, Hamburg. The second semi final between USSR and Italy was played in Neckarstadion, Stuttgart.
