The
Euro Cup 1972 Schedule was chalked out to complete the tournament within five days. The four nation championship started on the 14th day of June, 1972. The tournament culminated on 18th of the same month.
The first was played in Antwerp between the host country Belgium and West Germany. The second match was scheduled on the same day in Brussels between Soviet Union and Hungary. These matches were practically the semifinals of the tournament.
The 15th and 16th of June were rest days and the third place match between the two losing sides, Belgium and Hungary, was held on the 17th. The following day witnessed the historical final between West Germany and Soviet Union, played in Brussels.
