Euro Cup 1968 Venues mainly included Rome, Naples and Florence-the three main cities of Italy. However, the matches of the qualifying rounds of the tournament were played in different countries. This was the result of a new format of the tournament. The matches were played at a home and away basis till the quarter final stage. The final round of the Euro Cup 1968 was played only in Italy.
The most important among the
Euro Cup 1968 Venues was Rome. The capital city of Italy was the home to the Stadio Olimpico, one of the best stadiums of the time. The stadium hosted the third place play off match between USSR and England, where the latter emerged the winner. The final match of the European Championships 1968, between Italy and Yugoslavia, was also played in this stadium. The match ended in a draw and was replayed at the same venue on 10th June, in which Italy defeated Yugoslavia to lift the trophy.
The Stadio Comunale in Florence and the Stadio San Paolo in Naples played host to the two semi final matches of Euro Cup 1968. The first semi final in Naples, was won by Italy whereas Yugoslavia emerged winners in the second semi final, played at Florence.
