Euro Cup 1964 were participated by 4 qualifying teams. The preliminary round was contested by 29 European countries. Played in home and away basis, the final round was a quadrennial event. The 2nd edition of the tournament was won by host Spain, who defeated defending champions Soviet Union in the final.
The matches of the Euro Cup 1964 were played in two of the best stadiums in Spain – Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid and Nou Camp in Barcelona. Started on 17th June, 1964, the tournament saw its climax on 21st June. Apart from the finalists, the other two teams that qualified for the semi-finals were Hungary and Denmark. Hungary secured the 3rd spot by defeating Denmark in the 3rd place playoff match.
