Euro Cup 1960 Teams

The Euro Cup 1960, known as European Nations Cup was the first European Football Championship. The Euro Cup 1960 Participating Teams had to play knock-out games. Since Spain rejected to tour to USSR, the final tournament had the teams of Czechoslovakia, USSR, and Yugoslavia along with the host nation of France.

    After the preliminary round there were Eighth-finals which were played among the teams of:
    • USSR vs. Hungary
    • Greece vs. France
    • Turkey vs. Romania
    • Austria vs. Norway
    • Bulgaria vs. Yugoslavia
    • Portugal vs. East Germany
    • Spain vs. Poland
    • Denmark vs. Czechoslovakia
    In the Eighth-Finals the paired teams played twice with each other. The quarter finals were played between:
    • France vs. Austria
    • Portugal vs. Yugoslavia
    • Romania vs. Czechoslovakia
    The quarter-final matches were also played twice among the paired teams.

    The Semi-final matches were played among:
    • USSR vs. Czechoslovakia
    • France vs. Yugoslavia
    The final match was played on 10th July 1960 between Yugoslavia and USSR and the first Euro 1960 Champions was USSR. The match for the third position was played between France and Czechoslovakia on 9th July 1960.
