Hochosterwitz Castle is situated on a mountaintop about 160 meters high in the state of Carinthia in Austria. The castle can be reached by treading all the way to the top or by an elevator. Along the way to the top, there are 14 gates that one will pass through. Each of these gates was constructed at various times in the 16th century. The castle is open from spring to early fall. It is one of the most popular Klagenfurt tourist attractions.
