Euro 2008 Russia

Euro 2008- Russia: Russia will be eager to recreate the magic of the past years to bring back the Euro Cup 2008 home. They have been placed in Euro Cup 2008 Group D along with defending champions Greece, Spain and Sweden. Russian team will be trying their best to establish themselves as a major strength in world football by performing well in this group.

Russia advanced to the final stages of the Euro 2008 by acquiring the second place in the UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifiers Group E. They remained unbeaten in their home matches, being held by Croatia and Israel and defeating all the others. However, in their away matches, Russia was handed defeats by Israel and England. They drew with Croatia and defeated Andorra, FYR Macedonia and Estonia to emerge as group runners and book a place in the groups of Euro 2008.

The Russian national football team will start the Euro Cup 2008 on the 10th of June at Tivoli-Neu Stadion at Innsbruck. Their opponent in that match is Spain, one of the strong contenders for the title. The next match of Russia in the Euro Cup 2008 is against the defending champions Greece at the Wals Siezenheim Stadium, Salzburg, on 14th June. They will end their group stage matches at the Tivoli-Neu Stadion of Innsbruck against Sweden on 18th June. The Russian supporters will be hoping that their favorite team recreate the magic of the first edition of the Euro and bring home the much coveted cup.
