Euro 2008- Portugal: Portugal has been placed under Group A with three other teams namely Czech Republic, Turkey and Switzerland in Euro Cup 2008. In spite of having an enviable record in world football tournaments during the 1960s, it was not until Euro 1984 in France, that Portugal made it to the finals of the UEFA European Football Championships. Their best result came in 2004, when they finished second in their home ground.
Portugal became the second team in Group A of the Euro Cup 2008 qualifiers after Poland. They scored 27 points in the qualifiers. The other teams included Poland, Azerbaijan, Finland, Serbia, Belgium, Armenia and Kazakhstan. Portugal had a draw with Poland, Finland and Serbia in their home match and won rest of the home matches. In the away matches, Portugal had a draw with Armenia, Finland and Serbia.
