The Tierpark Langen Erlen of Basel was built in Kleinbasel in the year of 1871. The park houses many types of animals. Some of these animals have been brought from other parts of the world. There is a section in Tierpark Langen Erlen of Basel where domestic animals like hares, dwarf goats and pigs are reared. Other important animals of the park are Saugetiere Mammals, Hirsche Deer and Vogel Birds.
The ten varieties of deer, which are found at the Tierpark Langen Erlen in Basel, are the biggest attraction of the park. Poitou donkeys, Capuchin monkeys, ponies, Sardinische dwarf donkeys, dwarf goats, pot-bellied pigs, wild pigs, rabbits, hares, and guinea pigs are some of the mammals found in the park. Different species of geese, ducks, black swans, pheasants, Wildtruten, peacocks, Saru's cranes, guinea fowl, owls and storks and chicken complete the birds' category.
Being one of the popular Basel attractions, Tierpark Langen Erlen attracts tourists' from all over the world. There is no entry charge for the park. This is a great place for the nature and wild life lovers. The best way to explore the park is by traveling in a bicycle or pushchair.
Tierpark Langen Erlen is open all round the year but the timing is different. From March to September the park is open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, in October from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and from November to February from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, Alder kiosk, located within the park, is open from 2:00 pm till the closing time. Tourists can also enjoy the cultural programs with tombola, which are mostly held on Sundays during autumn.
