Puppenhausmuseum, situated in Basel, is home to the largest and extensive collection of teddy bears that do not belong to the present times. Visitors would be delighted to see the collection of dolls, shops inside this museum from both the past and the present. The Puppenhausmuseum is located at the center of the city of Basel on Barfusserplatz covering an area of 1000 square meters. The museum displays more than 6000 dolls and other objects related to it. Doll houses are spread across the whole museum.
History of the Museum
The museum has four floors which are filled with dolls houses and teddy bears. The building in which the museum is built is an old one, dating back to 1867. There is the facility of an elevator which transfers visitors from the ground floor to the last floor where the exhibition is normally held. One cannot tamper with the dolls since they are placed inside the glass and wooden cabinets.

Collection of the Museum
The museum is the largest in terms of its collection of teddy bears and dolls and their houses. More than 6000 kinds of dolls are present in the museum. The collection of the dolls house is the noteworthy part of the museum. Around 2500 types of doll houses are displayed in the museum. Dolls from various countries and from different periods are present inside the museum. The visitors would be struck by wonder during their visit to the museum. There are carousels inside the museum, which provide more entertainment of the children.
Exhibitions
Exhibitions are held inside the museum. There are special as well as archival exhibitions.
Events are also organized inside the museum for special public attraction. Normally, the events are organized on the first Saturdays of every month. Shopping facility is also available for the visitors. They can select among a rich assortment of materials for dolls house. They have a huge collection of miniature bears on the ground floor. Other pieces of artwork are also available inside the museum as well. There is a restaurant inside the museum so that the visitors can satiate their taste buds as well. The restaurant offers various type of cuisine and remains from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening.
Timings of the Museum
The museum remains open during the weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm.
Entry Fees
There is no entrance fee for children. For adults the fee is CHF 7-5.
