Leonhardskirche, which is also known as the Commoners' Church, was built in the 2nd half of the 11th century. After the earthquake of 1356, the church was re-constructed by Minister Architect Hans con Nussdorf between 1481and 1496. Hans Nissenberger was the designer of the building.
The grave of the knight Huglin von Schoneck and murals of the 14th and 15th centuries are kept inside the church. In 1518, Martin Lebzeller had installed the wooden choir vault inside the church. It had been the most significant late-Gothic church in the region of Upper Rhine and Protestant Church since 1529.
