Iran and Angola tied the match at Leipzig at 1-1 on Wednesday. Iran was already eliminated from the World Cup. With this draw, Angola failed to reach the knockout phase of the World Cup. However, playing for the first time in the World Cup, Angola did put up a good performance. Striker Flavio scored the first goal of the match for Angola. This was also the first goal of Angola in the World Cup finals.

Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh scored the goal for Iran in the 75th minute. He scored the goal from a corner on the right and hit a header inside the post. Iran put forth a dominating play in the first half. Hashemian suffered an injury to his lower back and had to leave the field before the break. Angola missed on a chance to score a goal in the 12th minute, when Mateus could not materialize his shot into a goal. Iran could have scored another goal, had Angola player Mendonca not stopped Zandi header in the 27th minute. The supporters comprised of more Angola fans. However both the teams were disappointed as none will be playing in the knock-out phase.
