England defeated Equador 1-0 on Sunday at Stuttgart and secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. David Beckham shot a goal from a free kick in the 60th minute. The goal came from a trademark 25-yard free kick beating goalkeeper Chistian Mora into the post.

It was truly a "bend-it-like Beckham" shot where he used his right foot to the fullest. This goal was the main attraction of the match. It was special to Beckham for two reasons. One, with this goal he becomes the first Englishman to score in three World Cups. Two, he scored a goal after 13 goalless matches.

In the 87th minute, he vomited on the field and left the match. Before the only goal of the match, England missed a number of chances of scoring a goal. England got the free kick when Edwin Tenorio fouled Frank Lampard outside the penalty area. English fans were delighted with their hero's performance. Next England faces the Netherlands or Portugal on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
