Ivory Coast defeated Serbia and Montenegro 3-2 on Wednesday. Both the teams had been already eliminated before this match. Aruna Dindane scored two goals for Ivory Coast. One of the goals by Dindane was scored from a penalty shot.

Nikola Zigic and Sasa Ilic scored the two goals for Serbia and Montenegro. The first two goals of the match came from Serbia and Montenegro. In the 37th minute, Dindane scored the first goal from a first penalty. He got this opportunity when in the 35th minute, Dudic was caught punching an Ivory Coast cross into the penalty area. Dindane hit a header in the 67th minute.

This equalized the score to 2-2. Bonaventure Kalou hit the winning goal of the match in the 86th minute. This was the first match of the world Cup in which Serbia and Montenegro scored. In the second half, Serbia and Montenegro played with ten players as Mladen Krstajic was shown his second yellow card.
