BRAZIL BEAT AUSTRALIA 2-0

Brazil secured a 2-0 win over Australia in Group F of the World Cup Adriano and Fred scored one goal each leading their team to victory. With this Group F win, Brazil has now secured a place in the second round of the World Cup. Since the 1966 tournament in England, Brazil has never been eliminated in the first stage. Adriano hit the first goal of the match in the 49th minute. He dedicated the goal to his son Adriano Junior, who was born in Brazil on Friday.

He did the "rocking the baby" celebration along with his teammates. Fred replaced Adriano in the 88th minute. He scored the second goal of the match in the 89th minute on a rebound into an empty net. It was a big moment for Fred as he succeeded in scoring a goal in his debut match. This was Brazil's fourth win in six matches against Australia. This was Cafu's 18th World Cup match. The quartet of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Adriano could not spark Brazil's attack.

In this match Ronaldo was more active than his previous match. He hit a powerful right-footer from a distance of 20 yards in the 41st minute but it missed the net.
