This time the Polish team surprised everyone by qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup before its last group match away to England.

Poland defeated France at Spain 82 to secure the third place. Poland reappeared at the FIFA World Cup finals after a 16-year gap. At South Korea/Japan 2002, the Polish suffered a first-round exit from the finals.
The Polish team failed to reach the UEFA EURO 2004 finals. This time the Poles want to prove themselves by putting forth a commendable performance at Germany 2006.
Poland Soccer Team put forth an impressive performance in the qualifying matches. The pair of Maciej Zurawski and Tomas Frankowski scored a total of 14 goals in the qualifying matches. Maciej Zurawski was also named the Polish player of the year in 2002.
