This naturally gifted player is known for his sensational ball control. He is often spoken of in the same ranks as Pele and Zico. Ronaldinho was acclaimed as the best player of the last World Cup at the age of 22.

He was born in the Restinga district of Porto Alegra, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Ronaldinho's elder brother has played a big role in Ronaldinho's foundation years. Older brother Roberto Assis, made his brother join the club Gremio Porto Alegre. Eight years later, Ronaldinho played for the Brazilian National Team's junior side. Two years down the line he was a member of the team that won the FIFA U-17 World Championship in Egypt. In 1998, he helped Gremio in securing a 1-0 win over Rio de Janeiro side Vaso de Gama.

Ronaldinho made his debut for the Brazilian National Team in 1999 against Latvia. In 1999 Copa America, the Brazilian team scored 7-0 over Venezuela. He scored a wonder goal in the same game.

He moved from Gremio to French side Paris Saint-Germain. In the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, Ronaldinho won a place in the Auriverde squad. Ronaldinho was one of the star players of Brazil's successful 2002 campaign in winning the World Cup. His 35-metre free kick against England in the quarterfinals in Shizuoka was one of the highlights of the tournament.

After the country's record fifth FIFA World Cup win, Brazil's star, Ronaldinho returned to PSG. After that he joined Barcelona.

In June 2005, Ronaldinho captained the Brazilian side to victory. The team won the second FIFA Confederations Cup title and Ronaldinho was named Man of the Match in a 4-1 victory over Argentina in the final.

Ronaldinho has won numerous awards. In 2005, he was presented with the France Football magazine's Golden Ball. He has won the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice.

His fans are expecting an enthralling performance from him this FIFA season.
